i get that from him…
Very rarely do I take a picture that makes me stop dead in my tracks. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the photos I take. Any one person will tell you that I’m always saying “Oh that’s my favorite photo!” and then repeating myself twenty more times during a session. But rarely do I catch a photo that stops me. Stops my heart. Takes my breath away. Couldn’t be fulfilled, edited or bettered in any way, shape or form.
I took this photo last summer through the glass door at my Momma’s house. Everyone, meet Pap Kerns. The man by whom the term “work ethic” is defined. A mean jitterbugger. A coffee drinker. An enjoyer of the down-times.
All traits he passed down to the one he helped to deliver when my Dad was still finishing basic training. To the one who has admired him for his inability to give up a hard days work because he feels it more important to provide for his family than to take care of his own well-being. His well-being is his family…what a man what a man.
I love you Pappy.
love (that he was the first one to hold me),
